Every program here conducts at least 50% of the day in French — from infant rooms through pre-K classrooms.
Many K–12 schools also run their own PreK — start there directly, or continue from a French daycare. See every French immersion school across the New York City metro area.
The New York City area has 9 French daycare and preschool programs: 8 private immersion programs and 1 free public dual-language Pre-K. For most families that means a full-immersion private option, concentrated in Manhattan but reaching into Brooklyn, Queens and across the Hudson.
Geography is the first filter. Six of the nine are in Manhattan: clustered on the Upper West Side (L'Atelier, La Petite École, both near the park), the Upper East Side (Le Petit Campus, District 2 Pre-K), plus Greenwich Village and Midtown. Outside Manhattan, La Maternelle serves Park Slope in Brooklyn, Les Étoiles in Astoria is the only French immersion preschool in Queens, and L'Alliance runs a campus in Montclair, NJ.
Age of entry varies more than in the schools directory. Le Petit Campus and La Maternelle accept babies from 3 months, while most programs begin at 2–2.5 years. All run through pre-K (age 5), so a child can stay until they move into a K–12 school.
Most programs run 100% French immersion. La Maternelle uses an 80% French model, Le Petit Campus and Les Étoiles run bilingual French/English tracks, and the one public option, District 2 Pre-K Center, is a tuition-free 50/50 French–English dual-language track. Most private programs now publish tuition, from roughly $25,000/yr for L'Atelier's half-day program up to $37,000–$41,000/yr for full-day immersion at La Petite École; La Maternelle and Les Étoiles quote only on request.
Ages, French share and tuition are sourced from each provider's website and reflect the 2026–27 year. Verify details directly with each program before enrolling.
