This page lists every French immersion and French curriculum school in Houston, public and private, and all of them in Houston itself — each with its program type, tuition, enrollment and accreditation. It is one metro area of an independent directory covering 239 schools across 34 US states.
Dual language programs follow the American curriculum with the school day split between French and English; French curriculum schools follow the French national program and are accredited by the French Ministry of Education. The private schools charge from $14,000 to $38,000 a year, averaging about $29,000.
Houston has 4 French-language schools, all within the city limits. The landscape is dominated by private AEFE-affiliated institutions: Awty International School — one of the largest and most academically renowned K–12 French schools in the US, serving over 1,600 students from more than 60 countries — and LIH International School of Houston, which brings a second AEFE-affiliated option to Houston families. Both offer the French Baccalaureate.
Mark White Elementary (Houston ISD) is Houston’s sole free French immersion option, offering dual language instruction at the elementary level. For families seeking tuition-free French education, it is the only path in the city.
Houston’s private French schools are notably international in character, reflecting the large energy-sector expat community (French, European, and global) concentrated around TotalEnergies, Chevron, Shell, and other energy majors headquartered in or near the city.
What AEFE homologation, LabelFrancÉducation, the American accreditors and the International Baccalaureate each certify is explained in the guide to accreditations and credentials. For younger children, the Houston daycare directory covers French daycares and preschools. You can also see every French school in Texas, or browse the full national directory.
